Goldrush Festival is one of the biggest EDM festivals in the Phoenix area. This year, it returns as a two-night event, entitled Goldrush: Sonoran Skies. There is an eclectic lineup of talented DJs set to perform both nights, with renowned DJs Tiësto, Zhu, and Zeds Dead headlining among several other talented acts.

We spoke with some hardcore Goldrush fans about what they are looking forward to this year.

  1. New Venue

“I’m definitely looking forward to the new venue this year for Goldrush.” Taylor Engel, a fitness coach and returning Goldrush attendee said. “In 2021 it was at Rawhide Event Center in Chandler and this year it will be at Phoenix Raceway.”

For comparison, the new venue is significantly larger than the Rawhide Event Center which only holds 7,500 people. The Phoenix Raceway has a capacity of 42,000 and is over a mile in length, making it the perfect venue to raise Goldrush Festival to even larger heights this year.

  1. New Stage Layout

Festivals are known for having multiple stages to showcase several different artists. This year, Goldrush is exploring new and exciting ways for artists to perform.

“I’m looking forward to the new setup this year since they started hosting events inside the raceway.” Greyson Mitchell, an Arizona State University alum and rave enthusiast said. “I’m very excited to see what they come up with. I hope this year they have more than one stage so the other artists that aren’t at the main stage can get a chance to really own their stage.”

  1. New Lineup

One of the best parts of any festival is the chance to see tons of different artists for the price of one show. With artists like Tiesto, Zhu, and Zeds Dead ser to perform, EDM fans are going to have a night filled with epic performances and vibrant sounds.

The lineup last year was pretty good and the lineup so far this year that’s been announced has been solid so far.” Mitchell said. “I’m excited to see the performances!”

  1. The People

Music festivals and raves are a great way to connect with others who enjoy the same type of music and experiences you do. One of the largest EDM festivals in Arizona, Goldrush Festival is the perfect opportunity for ravers to connect.

“Goldrush last year was my first rave, and it was the best experience I could’ve possibly had.” Emily Brooks, an ASU student, said. “Everyone was so kind and welcoming. I never expected to meet so many people and make so many friends through raving! This year I’m taking some friends for the first time and I’m really excited to expose them to the culture.”

  1. The Energy

Of course, the coolest part of attending any large music festival or rave is simply being able to vibe and enjoy the music and lights with a huge crowd and dance all night.

“I’ve been attending EDM shows since 2018 and I’ve always had such a good time,” ASU Alum Cinthia Sandoval said. “Dubstep is definitely becoming more popular in Arizona and it’s so cool to see the crowds grow.” Goldrush Festival will be between October 7-9 at The Phoenix Raceway.
