Sabrina Carpenter, also known as the “pop princess of our dreams” according to Taylor Swift, now has one of the most recognizable and iconic styles of the present day in my opinion.
To celebrate her Short n’ Sweet Tour, take a look back in time to see just how much Carpenter’s style has grown.
In 2015 Carpenter became well known for her role as Maya Hart on the Disney TV show Girl Meets World. She simultaneously came out with her debut album, “Eyes Wide Open.”
On Girl Meets World, her character was known for her rebellious fashion style, where she wore edgier clothes and layers, which were well-known stylistic choices for early Disney TV shows. Her character typically wore graphic t-shirts, a jacket, jeans, and boots. Carpenter’s personal style in the early 2010s is youthful, with a bit of a boho influence.
A few years later, in 2016 and 2017, Carpenter seemed to lean into a bolder and more mature look. She can be seen wearing a smokey eye, darker colors, and more dresses and skirts. This was also the time when she started releasing more music, such as her album “EVOLution”.
In 2019, Carpenter began working with the stylist Jason Bolden and they started “collaborating seamlessly to communicate her ever-changing story via clothes,” according to WhoWhatWear. She wore a lot of casual outfits such as baggy jeans and cropped tank tops, but would sometimes elevate them with her use of heels. She also started wearing more designer brands as well, such as Rasario, Valentino, and Coach. This was most likely due to her collaboration with Jason Bolden and her evolving style.
Carpenter started to experiment with her style in 2020 and leaned into a more elevated feminine look. She showed off her newly cut bangs in 2021, which are now synonymous with the singer’s style. She also started wearing more colors and adding retro elements to her outfits.
Carpenter opened for Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour in 2023, which helped her gain more traction. Her stage outfits were often colorful, sparkly and included heart motifs as a reference to her album and previous tour, Emails I Can’t Send. She has now fully embraced this hyper-feminine look.
One of her most iconic stage outfits during this time was her custom heart-cutout minidress by the designer brand Frolov. The dress was embellished with lace and rhinestones and she has worn this exact dress in multiple colors such as pink, baby blue, yellow, black and more. This was the beginning of many more custom Frolov outfits to come.
From the beginning of 2024 to the present day, Carpenter continues to dress feminine, but with certain elements of retro and old Hollywood glamour.
Carpenter’s outfits for her Short n’ Sweet Tour are sparkly, lacey, and feminine. She often includes heart and lip motifs within her outfits as well.
Styled by Jared Ellner, her first look on stage is a custom Victoria’s Secret bodysuit with hundreds of thousands of hand-placed crystals and a matching sheer babydoll coverup. Her next look has been a custom Patou, which is a black lace capri bodysuit with matching gloves.
Carpenter made yet another outfit change, wearing a custom two-piece set by Ludovic de Saint Sernin. It consists of a halter-neck handkerchief style top with a matching mini skirt, both completely covered in crystals. She pairs this outfit with her famous custom Naked Wolfe platforms. For this look, her platforms feature a heart cutout and are completely bedazzled.
“It sounds so silly to say that so much of my life is the little outfits I wear, but it kind of is,” Carpenter told WhoWhatWear.
