This weekend, Relentless Beats presented their third annual Phoenix Lights festival. Although it was supposed to take place in Downtown Phoenix, sometimes, it’s on to plan B…An unexpected change of venue transported the two-day extravaganza to Rawhide, an event center in Chandler.
Fear not, though…Phoenix still brought it’s shine with the help of Relentless Beats’ complementary shuttle and parking services, which ensured all could still attend. There were over 60 artists, including: Above & Beyond; Alesso; Tiesto; 21 Savage; GRiZ; STS9; Vince Staples; Zeds Dead; ZHU; Bro Safari; Cashmere Cat; Illenium; Justin Martin; Keys N Krates; Oliver Heldens; Pete Tong; and Tchami. The music too attendees on a journey that celebrated the appearance of spaceships in the Valley about 20 years ago.
Not only did the performers bring their A-game, but the crowd did as well. We, Earthlings, were dressed to impress and ready to be abducted.
A popular rave-trend that was prominent for this extraterrestrial-themed festival was neon…neon everything. Fishnets made an appearance too, as they do every year, as did velvet body suits and two-piece sets.
While chokers are still in, neck and head bandanas seemed to be the most popular accessory this year, as they keep hair out of your face and are head banging approved.
Those crafty enough to DIY their own festival outfits brightened up the day with sparkly barrettes covered in rhinestones and sequins.
The next two essentials were fanny packs and glitter. To keep your hands free to dance all day, but still have your necessities handy, many snagged fun fanny-packs. You probably used to laugh at your grandma for wearing these, but now you can find trendy ones to practically accent any outfit. Don’t forget to throw your colored sunnies inside!
The most important festival accessory of all is glitter. Just throw it on….literally everywhere. Yep, dump it all over your body. Flash-tats, glitter-roots and body glitter added so much gleam to the day that I’m sure were could be seen from space.
