New York Fashion Week Day 5

The Chic Daily

The designers of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week continued to impress the public with unique architecture, color and fabric on Monday. Fall 2012 looks to be a season with trending colors of red, black and white. Many of the designers presented glamorous red carpet dresses that we’re sure to see on many starlets this Oscar season.

Starting off the day, Jenny Packham presented a collection based off of evening dresses said to be suited for actress Angelina Jolie. The dresses were modest body-hugging silhouettes in silk chiffon, reminiscing the 1940s.

Carolina Herrera

Carolina Herrera stole the show with her creative architectural layers and detailed high necklines. Herrera presented a line of dresses that focused more on the face of the woman wearing them and not the body, a new trend from the high slit dresses we saw last season.

Donna Karan

Donna Karan’s collection added a new twist to the day showing off  accessories with tailored jackets. Each model had a miniature hat that matched the color of their dress. Karan’s dresses had a beautifully detailed low necklines that were unique to her collection and gained much applause from spectators.

Reem Acra

It seems in Fall 2012 we can expect to see the “red” trend continuing. Reem Acra continued the trend with a collection of red carpet looks. Acra started the collection with green leather crew necks then switched from day to night ending with glamorous gold sequined gowns.

Betsey Johnson

There’s no other way to end a day then with one of the most creative designers in the industry, Betsey Johnson. Of course she shied away from the trends of the day and stayed true to her reputation with her own fabulous prints, fabrics and designs. Inspired by the 1960s large hats, hot pink tights, sparkly pants and silver knee-high boots were shown for fall.

It’s still early in the fashion season, but it should be clear already, that we are going to see structured, bold and classic pieces popping up this year.
