Strapping trends took over the runway during the last and final day of London Fashion Week, a day dedicated completely to the latest contemporary men’s fashion. Day six took a swift departure from the bright, structured and feminine looks for women and several British designers took to the runway to lead men’s fashion into fall 2012. Here a few of my favorites and we can only hope our boyfriends agree.
Martine Rose
The young, fresh-faced Martine Rose who has said she finds inspiration for her collections by simply stepping outside into the streets of London mixed formal with unmistakable street fashion this season. Large, metallic and patched bomber jackets were placed over button downs and ties and paired with lustrous metallic pants. The models sported backwards hairdos and the looks featured drapes and pops of burnt orange.
Topman Design
This collection was all about three things: black, texture and structure. The Topman Collection was marked by an array of trench coats, sharply fitted blazers, loose-fitting sweaters, tight-fitting pants and layering of texture. From glossy patent leather to fur accents, the collection gave a dark spin on modern sophistication.
Matthew Miller
Labeled by Vogue as a designer to watch, Matthew Miller took his designs to new heights for fall 2012. His divergent, structured and strikingly bright digital prints were his signature this season. He artfully balanced his statement pieces with sharp, super-structured ebony and smoky trenches. Miller left a clear impression on London and brought fashion week to a stand-out end.
