Leather-Trimmed Clothing and Accessories for Fall

Leather-trimmed clothing has increased in popularity this fall. As temperatures start to drop, leather-trimmed items add a look of sophistication and edge to favorite standbys such as t-shirts, skirts and trench coats. While many designers feature leather trimmed looks, it is just as easy to get the look using faux leather designs from stores such as H&M and Forever 21.

Pairing a leather-trimmed shirt, such as the Trouvé option below, with jeans and boots makes looking put together easy. With such a dramatic shirt, wearing additional jewelry isn’t necessary. Instead, try wearing some equally bold makeup, like a darker smokey eye or an oxblood colored lip— another popular trend for fall.

With brown leather options, such as the Tahari dress and A.P.C. sweater, you can channel a more east coast, (added comma) prep look and stick with classic accessories. Pairing the dress or sweater with oxfords and some chunky gold jewelry looks polished— a perfect outfit for a family gathering or Sunday brunch.

The leather-trimmed trend can also be incorporated into work attire in more liberal work environments. Pairing a leather-trimmed pencil skirt, such as the Brigitte Bailey option above, with a conservative button up can add a little interest to an otherwise predictable work outfit. Even pairing a leather-collared shirt, perhaps similar to the Tibi piece, with dress pants, can create a professional look for everyday.

The leather-trimmed look can be translated into an array of styles—feminine, edgy and even professional. With an increase in popularity, affordable retailers offer a wide variety of options to try out this look. Although it may seem bold, it provides a fresh update to otherwise simple pieces in everyone’s wardrobe.
