Last Minute Gifts for the "Chic"-est Person You Know

By Madeline Bates

It's rare for me to have a gift for someone more than two days before an event. I would love to be one of those people who can plan for gifts (like my mom) and have all of their Christmas shopping done well before the 25th. As trends change and days pass, it becomes more difficult to find a gift for a loved one–especially one that won’t break the bank. I have put together a list (with the help of Cosmopolitan) of some of the trendiest gifts of 2024 that will hopefully serve you well into the next year.

Bubble Letter Monogram Necklace from Anthropologie

  1. Bubble Initial Necklace

We all know, or maybe are, someone who has one necklace that never comes off. Upgrade that special someone to a necklace that makes a statement and puts them on Cloud 9.

We The Free Denim Barn Coat from Free People

  1. Barn Jacket

I am proud to say I was ahead of the trend with this one when Target dropped an orange and brown oversized barn jacket that I wear in every season. However, if orange isn’t your color and Target isn’t your vibe, Free People and Ralph Lauren have exceptional styles for the splurge. Ralph Lauren can be found in the Biltmore Fashion Park and Free People is in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall.

Icon Juice Glass from Anthropologie

  1. Icon Juice Glasses

The perfect housewarming gift will always and forever be a kitchen item. Glasses, plates and silverware are often overlooked but can add a pop of color or personality to any meal. Anthropologie’s "Holiday in the City" collection features prints from Chicago, New York, Austin, Barcelona, Philadelphia and more. They also came out with holiday-themed icons for their famously trendy “icon glasses.” However, if you fear breaking the bank (or one of the glasses) TJMaxx and Marshalls have very similar products for half the price. Anthropologie has locations in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Chandler.

  1. Stationary

I couldn't be happier to see a small business from my hometown design and produce stationary and paper goods for National Parks and businesses across the United States. Noteworthy from Missoula, Montana is a small shop tucked away on the outskirts of Missoula’s downtown, but their inventory ceases to hide. From greeting cards to postcards, journals to calendars the shop has something for everyone.

For those who don't live in the Missoula area, Noteworthy ships anywhere in the United States.

Owala Water Bottle from Scheels

  1. Water Bottle

From Stanley to Owala, HydroFlask to BruMate, water bottle trends have changed faster than TikToks in 2024. The New York Times Wirecutter has a guide to choosing the best water bottle and Scheel’s and Dick’s have a plethora of options. Scheels is located at the Chandler Fashion Mall and Dicks is located at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

  1. Pajamas

Nothing says "I love you" more than gifting someone something relaxing. Pajamas are a great gift for the homebody who would rather spend a Saturday night with a book than a drink.

  1. Fragrances

Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb Tiger Lily and Versace Dylan Turquoise are two of my favorite fragrances because of their versatility. I highly recommend the sample sizes as a more affordable option.

Satin Pillowcase from Target

  1. Satin Pillowcase

If you are a woman in my life, chances are I have given you a satin pillowcase as a gift. In a dry climate with dry skin, I would do anything to remove the rough patches on my face. Since using a satin or silk pillowcase my skin and hair have been forever changed. Silk and satin bedding can be found at most major retailers.

The Love Knot Slouchy Bag: Buckle Edition from Anthropologie

  1. Slouchy Bag (Coach and Anthropologie)

The Coach Brooklyn Bag, which comes in two different sizes and five different styles (two of which are sold out) has taken the world by its straps. It comes to no surprise that this bag has been remade by Anthropologie and others. Coach has stores in Scottsdale, Chandler, Glendale and Gilbert.

The Anthropologie Slouchy bag comes in various different styles and six colors, none of which are sold out. It comes at a third of the price compared to the Coach original. Do not be fooled, the lesser price tag means a faux leather polyurethane.

Melie Bianco Strawberry Bag Charm from Anthropologie

  1. Bag Charms

I don't know much about Hanukkah, but I do know that the gift portion focuses on small and intimate gifts over eight days. Bag charms and keychains are small and often inexpensive (if you’re willing to go all out Coach sells theirs for $95). Often used as souvenirs, these small trinkets can be used to commemorate an event or excursion while still showing that you care whether it’s eight–or just one–day of giving. And if your Benjamin bills could be better spent elsewhere, Target has options for $10 and Anthropologie has options from $18-40.

r.e.m. beauty x Wicked Luxury Beautification Undereye Masks from Ulta

  1. Skincare

R.E.M Beauty x Wicked

No matter the climate, your skin will take a hit during the winter. Dry, oily or combination, your skin needs love and products to make it through darker and colder months.

6" Green Pine Tree Candle from Crate and Barrel

  1. Fun candles

I never understood why my mom and grandma loved home decor stores until I had my own place. Last week I went to Crate and Barrel alone and spent over an hour looking at everything from appliances to furniture and decor, and after I left I had dreams of my very own condo dancing in my head. One of the best home decor gifts is a candle because it’s extremely easy to regift and adds a scent and warmth to any home. TJMaxx and Crate and Barrel have uniquely shaped candles for anyone you may be gifting to.

  1. Socks

It’s dumb to say out loud but I LOVE getting socks as a gift especially when the cold weather requires warm feet. Smarwool and Weatherproof are go-to options for the adventurer in your life but don’t be afraid to add them to a gift that has already been put together or add them to a stocking for Christmas morning.

  1. Experiences

Resort: Groupon has an offer for Christmas at the Princess. Starting at $500, the pass includes a one-night stay at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess with two tickets to the Christmas at the Princess event. For a cheaper event, Phoenix Zoo presents “Zoo Lights” from November 27- Jan. 12 for a walk through the lit-up property.

Solidcore

  1. Subscriptions

The true gift that keeps on giving is one that never stops. Subscriptions have taken over as an easy gift for anyone. Two of my favorites are Solidcore, a class that will strain every muscle in the human body and Fabletics. Solidcore is a high-intensity, low impact workout that was designed for almost every ability. While you are dripping sweat in a dark room with other strangers, an instructor in a workout set that costs more than rent will tell you how amazing you are for getting out of bed and going to class. To me that's priceless. The Scottsdale location is at the Scottsdale Quarter right next to Press Coffee. Because you deserve that post-workout coffee and snack.

For the healthcare worker or athleisure lover, I would recommend a Fabletics VIP membership. For just $60 a month with the option to skip a month, the subscription comes with one member credit that allows the option to purchase hundreds of items of clothing, leggings, scrubs and more. If a credit goes unused, it rolls over to the next month and lasts for a 12 month period. Members also get 20-50% off in-store and online purchases.
