Rihanna’s Rockstar anthem blasted down the runway at the AE England Building at Downtown Campus this past Friday for the fashion show put on by the Fashionistas at ASU. Local artwork was featured for visitors to view as well as a Dj that set a fun up-beat atmosphere, much like you would find at a professional fashion show. Fashionista club president Eman Fendi was a blast at the show keeping the mood fun for the models, which were current Fashionista members.
The clothing for the show came from HipKNOTies, a concept that was created by Sarah Yonover. The dresses and skirts that were in the show were one size fits all pieces of fabric that were knotted into a style and fitted to each model accordingly. Which you would never guess by looking at the pieces once knotted. They resemble any maxi skirt or dress you would see in a name brand store.
The HipKNOTies styles come in short, medium and long for a shirt, skirt, or dress. The beauty of this simplistic HipKNOTies concept is the bold accessory you get to pair with the fabric to change the look from day to night.
Jenesis Laforcarde styled the outfits and added the perfect accessories to make the looks. Bold necklaces, thin belts and draping earrings were used to accent the looks. The fabrics varied from bold solid colors too metallic. The versatility of the HipKNOTies concept is genius and perfect for any occasions or season.
The Fashionistas at ASU is a fashion club based in Tempe, Arizona.
To get involved Fendi said, “ All you have to do is be a fashionista and a student who can attend our meetings.” They cover fashion events, fashion shows and make sure to keep Tempe campus fashionable!
