Spring is finally here, bringing feelings of love and happiness that, of course, lead to weddings! As fashionistas, we are thrilled about this because everyone knows that being a wedding guest is basically just an excuse to go buy a new dress (as long as you manage to stay out of the wedding party and avoid the dreaded bridesmaid dress).
When selecting your dress for a wedding, there are very important things to remember:
Time and Location – You should keep in mind whether the wedding is outdoors or indoors, during the day or in the evening hours.
For daytime weddings, you will want to wear lighter colors and keep it more casual. Evening weddings are typically more formal, and as it does tend to be cooler at night, you will want to be more covered up.
Accessories – You also want to remember when planning your outfit, that the focus should be on the bride and groom. Avoid excessively bright colors and crazy accessories. A statement piece of jewelry can be a great conversation piece at the reception table as long as it doesn’t deter attention from the bride as she walks down the aisle during the ceremony.
Shoes – Your shoes should be outfit appropriate, but not so high that the bride’s mother is wondering whether you are there as a guest, or as the entertainment afterwards. Wedges are great for outdoor weddings, while nude and black pumps compliment any formal attire.
Once you have taken those factors into consideration, it’s important that you find a dress that you feel comfortable in! You want to be able to let loose and have fun, so find a dress that makes you look and feel fabulous.
Now that you have some guidance on what to wear, go ahead and RSVP yes to all those wedding invitations piling up on your kitchen counter! All you have to worry about now is finding the gift!
