Berlin-based artist Alice Phoebe Lou opened the show, warming up the crowd to life with a variety of songs from her self-released albums.
Clairo took the stage at 8 p.m., just as the sun dipped out of view from the amphitheater grounds.
The warm early autumn evening matched the energy of the show. With glittering tassels providing the backdrop for her set and a warm-toned spotlight moving up and down to highlight the stage, the setting brought to life a fuzzy, nostalgic feel, like something out of a near-forgotten dream.
For her concert attire, Clairo wore a purple dress with slightly grey undertones, and long flowing sleeves. The dress leaned into the whimsical and warm themes of the show, tying all of the aspects of the presentation together quite nicely.
The setlist was comprised mostly of songs from her latest album, “Charm,” which was released in July of this year. She also pulled songs from some of her earlier works, including “Bags” and “Flaming Hot Cheetos.”
She also performed “Sinking,” at the request of a fan holding up a sign, saying if it was performed he would do a backflip. After the song was played, she invited him up to the stage, where he did, in fact, successfully perform a backflip in front of the crowd. The singer expressed hope that more fans would do things like that, so this may just be the newest trend for concert-goers at Clairo’s sets!
During the show, she highlighted her crowd work skills, pausing to talk with audience members during breaks between songs, as well as making sure security was passing out enough water to those standing at the barricade.
She closed out her set with “Juna,” a hit off her latest album, which made it to No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50. Although there was no encore, fans seemed pleased with the conclusion, singing along and dancing to the piece.
Clairo will continue the North American leg of the tour until November. After that, she’ll be on a brief hiatus from touring until she starts up again in March for a month-long tour in Europe.
