We’re officially in spring mode in Tempe, so the incorporation of bright colors, bold patterns, and ripped denim shorts in outfits are in full swing. This week happened to be a cloudy one though, so students mixed the traditional spring trends with layered tops and chunky boots. Many of the stylish students spotted by The Chic Daily this week are also D.I.Y aficionados, sporting their own pieces.
Freshman Stee-V Johnson
Major/concentration: Business (Communications)
As hard as it may be to make comfortable clothes stylish, Stee-V achieves this flawlessly, as she makes her own clothes (such as her leggings pictured) and sells them.
Human Resources Freshman Huaqing Ying (left) and Business freshman Hanyu Wang
Sophomore Yadima Ugwuala
Major/concentration: Justice Studies
Yadima’s style is influenced by pieces she thinks represent her personality best: fun, vibrant and eccentric.
Senior Pan Chen
Major/concentration: Finance
Pan describes her style as career influenced, as seen by her geek-chic glasses and button down blouse.
Freshman Audra Carlisle
Major/concentration: Digital Culture (Arts and Design Emphasis)
Influenced by ’50s style and thrifting, Audra is all about D.I.Y projects, such as her fabulous skirt (pictured).
Junior Andrew Vigness
Major/concentration: Film
Of today’s outfit choice, Andrew thought, “it was cloudy out so I’m going to wear my boots and roll my pants.”
(left to right) Juniors Jordan Litzinger, Carly Traxler, Kate Schwab, and Samantha Gutierrez.
Jordan: Major/concentration: Anthropology
As an Urban Outfitters employee (along with her three friends, pictured), Jordan is influenced by unique clothing lines and fashion designers such as Christeric and Eric Unif, as well as musician Alice Glass.
Carly: Major/concentration: Art Studies (Photography)
Shoe designer Jeffrey Campbell and online clothing store ASOS influence Carly’s style.
Kate: Major/concentration: Art Studies (Photography)
Kate is influenced by Urban Outfitters’ clothes and campaigns, as well as beloved ’90s grunge.
Samantha: Major/concentration: Design Studies (Design Management)
The styles of celebrities and style icons Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie influence Samantha.
