“Socks are the number one most requested clothing item at homeless shelters.”
This quote struck the motivation to create Bombas. Bombas is an online company specializing in the production of high-quality socks that are not only changing the industry, but are also changing the world.
Bombas has a strict policy. For every pair of socks purchased, they will donate a pair to someone in need. They are committed to making the world a better place one pair of socks at a time.
When the company started, it was determined to reach one goal: ensure people in need receive what they need.
“The more socks we sell, the more we can donate.”
They have already donated 2,287,666 pairs of socks to homeless shelters.
You may be wondering where this unique company name comes from…Well, the story behind it is quite interesting.
Bombas derives from the Latin word bumblebee. The creators were inspired by how well bees work together to make their hives a better place.
“They’re small, but their combined efforts have a big impact on the world.”
They even took up the slogan “Bee Better”. This saying is stitched inside every pair of socks to remind people how to approach life each day.
Not only is Bombas helping those in need, but it is also changing the way socks are manufactured. Although there has been a recent evolution of athletic shoes, the company recognized that socks were not being given the same attention; they were continuing to be made in the same way.
Since this, the company set a goal for itself to create a sock that is used for athletic activities, as well as leisure.
“Bombas are socks engineered and designed to look better, feel better and with a mission to help those in need.” It has been said you must feel their socks to believe it.
Each pair is equipped with features that take one’s performance to the next level. These include: extra-long staple cotton, blister tab, Y-stitched heel, honeycomb support system, Invisitoe and a performance foot bed.
Bombas is not donating the same sock they sell to customers. It is instead donating a sock that is specially designed for the homeless. For example, the socks are darker colors.
The creators of Bombas were surprised by their product’s popularity. They always dreamed of donating one million pairs of socks…a dream they believed would take 10 years. With the support and enthusiasm of customers, Bombas was able to donate one million socks in just two-and-a-half years.
