An alternative NYE lookbook

By: Megan Barbera

New Years Eve in Arizona brings a variety of events and a lot of opportunities to show off the best of your wardrobe.

Hitting the streets of Phoenix will give you a widespread list of things to do including a flannel themed New Years bash at Roosevelt Row and a block party at the Crescent Ballroom.

For those who want to dance the night away, Relentless Beats will be offering multiple nights filled with music and partying, including the anticipated Decadence Arizona featuring sets from the likes of Skrillex and San Holo.

Typical New Years outfits include an abundance of sparkles and gold, and while those looks will always be classic, I wanted to put together a set of fun outfits that are a change from the usual NYE get-up, and perfect for the events happening in AZ.

All Black Everything

There is something timeless and edgy about an all black outfit, and believe it or not, it works for New Years. Relentless Beats will be putting on a New Years Pre-Party and all-black is a perfect choice for a more laid-back outfit before the New Years outfit craze begins. I took an oversized black hoodie and paired it with black sheer tights for an effortlessly edgy look. Pair it with cool sunglasses and boots or sneakers for a total cool gal look.

Just Add Fur (Faux of course!)

Faux fur is the new sparkle for NYE! As the clock ticks to midnight and temperatures cool down as the night progresses, this trend is quite practical for NYE. This outfit consists of an oversized thrifted faux fur coat over a bralette and sheer tights. The cheetah beret adds a fun twist, and I added Doc Martins for ultimate comfort.

This alternative outfit is perfect for the Ruby Courtyard Stage at Decadence AZ, which will feature some incredible AZ local talent. It is fun, warm and comfy, the three essentials for a cool festival night!

This outfit is rave-ready for Decadence AZ! I paired black fringe shorts with sheer tights and a green bralette to match the multicolored bucket hat. The grey fur jacket from Target is a cozy choice to pull the outfit together, and the Doc Martins have me ready to dance the night away!

Black and cheetah print is an underrated combination, and is perfect for a night of dancing the year away! I again chose my fringe shorts and cheetah beret for a take on rave fashion, and paired a velvet hoodie with velvet boots for a fun multi-textured look.

You can always add glasses and a bandana to make it festival ready!

The fun doesn’t stop at midnight!

Relentless Beats will be putting on an afterparty after Decadence AZ, and if you want to change out of the festival vibe, this look is perfect for both an afterparty or a post-night-out brunch. I paired joggers from the men’s section of Forever 21 with a thrifted oversized denim button-down. Add your coolest sneakers and a bucket hat for a chill and relaxed look.

Why not start 2019 off with a multi-patterned look? This outfit is perfect for a day out in the city celebrating the New Year. I paired a basic black dress with a checkered jacket from Forever 21, and of course, my cheetah beret. Add sheer tights and booties for a stylish step into the new year!

The Chic Daily will be covering all the New Years festival fashion at Decadence AZ, so be sure to check out our Instagram story on Dec. 30th and 31st!
