Color Combinations Seen On the Runway

Pastels:pastel-1

The trick to mastering a look of pastels upon pastels is to incorporate at least one neutral piece into your outfit. Try including candy colors in a professional look by wearing a masculine coat over a periwinkle pencil skirt, like in Burberry. Or channel Miu Miu and play up the cute factor with tights and Mary Janes. Even a more bohemian look, like this one at Valentino, mixes pastel shades with fringe and sandals.

Blue and Red:

Blue and red isn’t merely a nautical clichΓ© anymore. To pull off this look without looking like you’re dressed for an Independence Day celebration, opt for an electric blue rather than navy. But keep it festive with cherry reds, bold shoes and eclectic fabrics.

Blush and Metallic:

Blush and metallic pair together to create something that is equal parts romantic and glam. It isn’t a hard combination to achieve and nearly always looks pretty. These colors present a variety of options. You can toughen up a pale pink dress with heavy metal accessories, or keep it feminine and ethereal.

Orange Neutral:

Rather than breaking up neutrals with a pop of orange, designers have recently been using orangeΒ asΒ the neutral, combining it with pastels for notice-me looks. Use it as the main color or add just a hint with shoes or a bag.
