New York Fashion Week | Recap of Sept 6 Shows

It’s officially that time again when fashion hits New York. It’s the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week shows – meaning there is no shortness of fabulous looks and innovative designs anywhere to be seen. I chose to take a closer look at the BCBGMaxazria, Richard Chai and Nicholas K shows from the first day of New York Fashion Week.

These looks were anything but ordinary as the models hit the runway. The clothing ranged from long to mid length dresses and even to rompers with their primary colors as black, white and peach. One of the dresses displayed had a pattern that gave the impression of a suit of armor. The shoes in this show were either black or white with a strap above the ankles.

Richard Chai

Richard Chai’s designs stayed closer to a pastel color scheme. These designs featured skirts, dresses and even a look or two to entertain the gentlemen. Although he chose to stay around whites and pastels he did include looks that were darker. A pattern that did appear in his designs were patterns and silhouettes that looked like flowers. While these looks definitely went outside the box, they certainly pleased my eyes.

Nicholas K

The last designer I looked at was Nicholas K. His designs ranged from earth tone colors to dark tone colors. It looked like for the women the shoes were open toed wedges, while the men had open toed sandals. A look that repeatedly came up was big round glasses and something that resembled ski hats. The looks ranged from baggy pants and shirts to shorts and dresses. These designs were definitely different, but extremely fun!

BCBGMaxazria, Richard Chai and Nicholas K all had such different shows and designs, but I loved the variety of each of them. What was your favorite designer from the opening shows?
